Matt used to exclusively play Tama drums. Matt earned his first professional quality Tama drum kit back in 1983. It was a Tama Imperialstar drumset, the same line of drums used by Stewart Copeland (The Police) and Stan Lynch (Tom Petty). Matt played these drums out on many occasions, through high school and college. Here are some of the Tama kits Matt used to play.
For a brief period in 2016, Matt owned a time-capsule-quality set of Imperialstar drums, similar to the drums he originally owned back in the 80's, and set them up for fun. It was a great sounding kit, and the drums looked great for being over 30 years old!
This is a 2008 Tama Starclassic Performer, 100% birch drumkit. Special features include matching, custom-finished octobans and gong drum. This kit also had a set of Latin Percussion granite blocks, custom-mounted to a curved rack pipe, and a 26" Zildjian gong!
Matt owned many Tama snare drums. This is a group photo of some of his favorite snares.
This was Matt's Rockstar Custom kit. He spent years collecting matching drums, upgrading the hardware, and even adding two matching, custom concert toms. This kit also had the full, 8-piece set of octobans.
